Opportunities to Serve

Opportunities to Serve

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 peter 4:10, NIV)

Members of our church family have a wide variety of programs in which they can become involved, either as a participant or as a leader.  Active involvement in one or more ministries is an expectation of church membership.  Equally important is the fact that participation in programs such as these provides opportunities for spiritual fellowship and personal growth.

Staff and volunteer leaders can help match you and your gifts and passions with ministry opportunities to serve God at Memorial Baptist Church.  If you are wondering where you might be able to plug-in, consider some of the example ministries listed on our website.

Greeter Ministry

Church growth experts indicate that a guest’s first impression of a church is formed within the first 30 seconds of entering the building.  If you are outgoing and have a desire to help visitors and guests, call the church office.  We’ll be glad to find a place for you in our Greeter Ministry.

Music Ministry

God has blessed Memorial with excellent musicians, vocalists and instrumentalists.

Audio/Visual Support

Our audio and visual support team serve behind the scenes of most of our services, performing tasks such as managing projected slides (music, etc.), managing microphones and sound mixing for our musicians, playing & recording multi-media (like video, etc).

White Cross

What is White Cross?

The term “White Cross” dates back to World War I, when church women gathered together to roll bandages for the Red Cross and to make quilts for orphanages.  Nowadays, we meet regularly to work on finishing quilt tops or other handwork projects.  Completed projects are donated to worthy causes or added to our missionary cupboard.

Who?

Women who enjoy Christian fellowship and workin with their hands—no previous sewing experience is necessary.

Mothers: your babies are welcome (and passed around for hugs and cuddles).  Toddlers and young children can occupy themselves near you, and older kids can probably help.

When?

Usually 2nd Thursday of the month (or, whenever we have projects to complete).

See our calendar for scheduled meeting dates and times, or contact the church office.

Bring?

    Hands willing to work,
A potluck dish to share (lunch follows work),
Optional: free-will offering (Contributions help purchase fabric and necessary supplies.)
